Graciela Trujillo Hernandez

Graciela Trujillo Hernandez (Grace) is a third-year Developmental Psychology student at the University of Rochester. They are focused on expanding the research currently being conducted with Latinx families by looking at the cognitive development in children raised with different beliefs, customs, and cultural practices. Thus, Grace is broadly interested in how the cultural context shapes children’s reasoning about biological illnesses. Currently, Grace is exploring parent-child and student-teacher conversations about the Covid-19 pandemic. They are also exploring the cultural practices and beliefs of Puerto Rican parents and the kinds of messages they convey to their children. In the future, they are interested in examining how children growing up in a household where witchcraft is actively practice reason about biological illness.

They hold a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of California, Riverside.
